MJP Celebrated Purim together, as a school community.
Queen Esther is very important to Ava and Naomi today, in 2016, although the Purim story took place in 356 BCE.
At Mequon Jewish Preschool the stories of our holidays and the mitzvot that are connected with them are relevant and part of our lives today.
Naomi and Ava in the K4 dressed up as Queen Esther for Purim.
Morah Robyn met with them and asked them about their choice to be Queen Esther.
Naomi said, “She was a very special queen who saved the Jewish People.”
Ava and Naomi shared more, “ We loved dressing up as Queen Esther. She was a really important queen. She was special because she was beautiful and strong. She had to keep the secret that she was Jewish and she did a good job. She helped save the Jewish people. People really liked our costumes.
The MJP kids arrived to school in honor of Purim in so many beautiful and creative costumes. It was an important day with many mitzvot to observe.
Ava and Naomi talked about the miztvot we all did together with many MJP families that joined us. “We liked hearing the Megillah and watching the story on the screen. It's important to listen to the Rabbi and hear all the words on Purim. The Megillah tells us the story and we need to remember it. When we hear Haman's name we shake our groggers because he was a bad man. Mordechai saved us and we hear this in the Megillah."
Menucha joined in and shared about the Purim Mitzvot that she enjoyed, “I love giving and receiving Shalach Manos. It is a mitzvah of Purim. On Purim our job is to be happy. It makes people happy to give them and to get them."
