The Way We Learn at MJP
At our core identity, we have Judaism based on the Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem M. Schneerson’s vision of education being about building a character, with emphasis on moral and ethical values. Integrated with that is our inspiration from the Reggio Emilia approach to early childhood education, which is known as the leading best practice around the world since 1963. Our vision represents for us the value of "child as a competent partner in the learning process.” Inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach, we believe that growth and change is core to high quality education. Our curriculum and planning focus on seeing our children and their teachers in a constant place of becoming, and never in a place of arrived. Seeing children and teachers in a growth and change constant process, means that they are researchers and deep thinkers that construct knowledge in different ways. We believe that when children live in an environment that is awaiting their theories, questions, and interactions, and is turning each of those into opportunities for learning it brings them to the landscape of life long learning. We guide and equip our educators to meet every child where he or she is at, and to reflect, define and plan their intentions for the children accordingly. As a school, we follow the Rebbe’s idea of “This is our life and length of our days”, by creating a unique educational COMPASS of living a seamless curricular integration between all academic areas, and our Jewish sense of being. |
